Editing
From September 2019 to July 2020 I was the managing editor for The Better Because Project. In addition to developmental editing, copy-editing, and proofreading for Medium and Squarespace, I built the publication from an idea that the founder had into a cross-platform publication. When I left in July 2020, The Better Because Project had a fully-functional website that regularly published stories, in addition to publishing multiple stories through Medium distribution and earning money, and an engaged Instagram and Facebook audience with high click-through rates. I also created a style guide, editorial procedural documents, hired and managed a team of three editors, and created copy for the website, social media, email campaigns.
Copywriting
I have worked as an educational content creator for enotes.com. In my previous role as an ESL teacher in Japanese public high schools I also created hardcopy content for lessons using Adobe InDesign and Microsoft Publisher.
I have experience writing email, newsletter, UX, and web copy for not-for-profit organisations.
I have extensive experience creating and maintaining procedural and training material for government, private, and not-for-profit organisations. My specialty is creating effective, logical SOPs that are easy for staff and volunteers to use, and easy for managers to update as required.
Scriptwriting
I am tertiary-educated in dramatic, comic, and documentary screenwriting.
